Logisticare Medical Transportation Problems?

Here's how we can work together to try to improve the situation... People across the state are having problems acquiring their Medical Assistance (MA) transportation through the new state MA transportation brokerage system called Logisticare and few know where to turn for help. Whether it is Logisticare not responding to the many calls of concerns, providers showing up with inappropriate vehicles or not showing up at all, or the lack of providers, people are not receiving the rides they desperately need to their medical appointments.

In an effort to assist, CILWW, one of Wisconsin's eight Independent Living Centers, can work directly with an individual to try to resolve the issues with Logisticare and acquire the necessary transportation needed for medical appointments through Medical Assistance. If you do not reside in CILWW service area, we can connect you with the Independent Living Center in your area who would be able to assist.

In addition, many of you have tried to contact the Logisticare Ombudsman or the "Where's My Ride" number to complain and have not received a response nor a remedy; therefore your complaints may not be documented. Despite this, we want you to keep trying. Here is what you can do to make sure your complaint is documented and/or remedied:

  1. Call Logisticare (LC) "Where's My Ride?" phone number to let them know your situation. This is LogistiCare's only complaint line. Call toll-free: 1-(866) 907-1494. If you can, find out your client record number and Logisticare ride confirmation number before calling so the problem can be documented correctly.
  2. If you do not get a response, contact the LC Ombudsman and let her know your situation. You can contact the LC Ombudsman toll-free at 866-907-5194, ext. 206.
  3. Wisconsin Independent Living Centers, Mobility Managers, and Aging Units throughout the state are trying to collect data on the problems people are experiencing with Logisticare (LC), but we need help. We ask that you please call CILWW toll-free at 877-577-8452, ext.11 with the same information you would give the LC Ombudsman. A CILWW staff will not only assist with trying to remedy the problem, but will also document the problem. The documentation is then gathered and will be sent to LC, along with our area Legislators to inform them of the problems people are having in trying to secure necessary medical transportation. It is our hope LC and WI Legislators will hear about the problems and take action to remedy this critical issue.
  4. In addition, CILWW would like to know if any of you have given up trying to remedy your problems with LC and, as a result, are now not going to the doctor, or are paying for the ride yourself, or have family members take off work to take you, etc. We would like to document this also.
Please contact CILWW toll-free at 877-577-8452, ext.11 if this is your situation.

Remember, medical transportation through Medical Assistance is your right.

If we work together we can be successful in remedying the system so many desperately need to maintain their health!
